"....Gerard Druiven is a Dutch painter who was born in 1954. He is known for his paintings of recognizable
forms such as human heads and figures, landscapes, genre-like interiors, and still lifes.
However, the reality is only an occasion for the representations, it does not model anywhere. With
disproportions in perspective, in mutual size and shape, the viewer’s eye is gradually led into the
landscape of the mind. This new space is however conceivable and tangible. Druiven gives himself less to
fashionable philosophical and art-theoretical reflections than to an almost Renaissance
experience of micro- and macrocosm. The human event therein is insignificant and limited in scope. Actions
are a means of expressing something else. Representations as attempts to capture silence...."
